The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) Media and Corporate Communications team is seeking dynamic Communication Specialists to join our energetic group.

This position assists in the timely and effective provision of public information, media and communication services.


To succeed in this role, you will need well-developed communication skills, including the ability to receive and convey information clearly, concisely, and accurately in various contexts.





This position plays a key role in supporting the delivery of the DFES digital communications and social media function.


It involves collaborating with other members of the Directorate and various stakeholders to plan, develop, implement, and coordinate digital communications and social media activities.


To succeed in this role, you will need strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work cooperatively with external stakeholders in a team environment.





This position offers a range of high-quality communication services to support the public information function within DFES.


You will provide expert advice and support to the Public Information Branch and engage with various stakeholders to promote public information initiatives and projects.


The role is responsible for delivering warnings and information to the community during emergencies.


To be successful in this role, you will need excellent written communication skills, the ability to create concise and accurate material for different contexts, and strong verbal communication skills.





This position identifies, develops, implements, and evaluates communications initiatives and activities to promote DFES and managing relationships with various stakeholders.


To succeed, you should have proven experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating creative media and communication plans and projects, as well as high-level written communication skills, including the ability to write for different audiences, styles, and formats.



Working Arrangements



Due to the unique nature of emergencies, applicants will be required to work occasional weekends, nights and public holidays as part of our on-call roster.


Whether you are based in our State Operations Centre or deployed to the incident ground, generous remuneration and allowances are provided.



Eligibility To Apply



You must be an Australian Citizen or hold permanent residency to be considered for permanent appointments or hold a working visa covering the term of the contract (proof must be provided with your application) to be eligible for this position.


National Police Certificate A condition of employment for new employees of DFES is that a current National Police Certificate (less than 3 months old) is provided prior to commencement.


Choice of Super The Fire and Emergency Services (Superannuation Fund) Regulations 1986, prevents DFES from offering choice of super for permanent appointments.
