We are establishing a pool of eligible and highly motivated individuals to fill short term principal vacancies in WA public schools across the state.

Types of Schools:



  • Primary schools with more than 700 students

  • High and Senior High schools

  • Senior Colleges

  • Distance Education Centres

  • Agricultural schools/colleges



Appointments from the Pool:


Directors of Education may consider eligible applicants for short term principal appointments up to 6 months by matching your skills, experience and location preferences to their vacancy.



Evaluation Process:


Your referees may be contacted to verify your skills and experience.


If you are currently a permanent employee with the Department, your current line manager will need to approve your release before you can accept a fixed term placement at another school.

  • The completed online application form;

  • A comprehensive, up to date CV, including details of 2 work related referees, one being your current line manager where possible;

  • Identification (e.g. birth certificate, passport, change of name documentation - marriage certificate);

  • Evidence of eligibility to work in Australia, including Australian or New Zealand citizenship or Australian work permit;

  • Evidence of your current Western Australian teacher registration (from the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia);

  • Evidence of your teaching qualification (certificate of completion)



Eligibility and Requirements:


Eligibility for employment is subject to obtaining a satisfactory National Police History Check through the Department of Education’s Screening Unit, a valid Working with Children Check and Western Australian teacher registration.


These must be confirmed prior to commencing employment.
