The Office



The State Solicitor's Office (the Office) is the Western Australian Government’s principal legal adviser.


We enable government action, manage the State’s legal risk, and support the First Law Officer with authoritative advice on key legal issues.


Our work delivers demonstrably better government decisions, strengthens the rule of law, and leads to greater community trust in the public sector.



Legal Practice Support



Legal Practice Support provides professional paralegal and administrative support to the Legal Officers within the legal sections of the Office.


The Roles are skilled at providing direct, high quality, timely and responsive secretarial, administrative and paralegal support for lawyers in various practice teams within the organisation.



The State Solicitor's Office is seeking




  • Legal Assistants:


    • Administrative or Law Clerk / Paralegal experience, preferably within a legal environment.

    • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate both written and orally with a diverse range of people, and on a variety of topics.

    • Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to manage varying priorities and workloads to achieve deadlines.


  • Law Clerks:


    • Sound comprehension of grammar, punctuation, and accurate spelling.

    • Demonstrated high standard of word processing and data entry skills.

    • The ability to draft basic legal documents.

    • The ability to interpret and apply legislation, rules, policy, practice, and procedures.




Information about the Talent Register



The Talent Register is an online portal that allows you to register your interest for short term contract opportunities (up to a twelve-month contract) with the Legal Support team of the State Solicitors Office.


Opportunities are temporary and may be full-time or part-time.


For some roles we may be able to make direct appointments which will mean you won’t need to go through a full competitive recruitment process, in accordance with the Commissioners Instructions 39 and its conditions.
